Boğaziçi CT3

Boğaziçi University Center for Targeted Therapy Technologies (Boğaziçi CT3) Platforms are interdisciplinary research and production infrastructures designed to develop innovative solutions in biomedical research and health technologies.

Each platform has a distinct focus area, including implantable and in-body devices, cell- and protein-based therapies, nanomedicine technologies, biomaterials, and microalgae biotechnology. Supported by advanced analytical units, cleanroom facilities, and experimental imaging capabilities, this ecosystem produces outputs across a wide range—from novel medical devices and functional food products to nanomedicine candidates and cancer vaccines.

By aiming to translate research ideas into clinical applications and societal benefit, Boğaziçi CT³ Platforms aspire to become one of the leading centers in health technologies in Türkiye and worldwide.

Nanomedicine Technologies Platform
Nanomedicine Technologies Platform

The Nanomedicine Technologies Platform is a research and development infrastructure focused on targeted drug delivery systems and nanotechnology-based therapeutic approaches. Within the scope of the platform, research is carried out particularly on the development of nanoparticles capable of delivering smart therapies directly to the target site in cancer treatment, while targeted drug approaches for different diseases are also pursued. The platform is structured to support both research groups within the center and spin-off initiatives emerging from its innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

One of the platform’s most prominent achievements is that one of Türkiye’s first drug candidates to reach the clinical stage was developed within this infrastructure. All non-GLP preclinical studies related to this lead candidate were conducted at the center. In this respect, the platform provides a strong research environment that supports the translation of scientific research into application and plays a pioneering role in the development of innovative nanomedicine solutions at both national and international levels.

Biomaterials Platform
Biomaterials Platform

The Biomaterials Technologies Platform is an interdisciplinary research and development infrastructure that operates in close interaction with the Implantable Medical Device Technologies, Cell and Protein Technologies, and Nanomedicine Technologies platforms. Within the scope of the platform, biocompatible biomaterials are designed, prepared, characterized, and further developed for application-oriented use. These biomaterials are utilized in a wide range of areas including implantable medical device coatings, carrier systems for diagnostic applications, surfaces for protein immobilization, nanostructures for cell capture, wound dressings, and tissue engineering applications.

The platform is supported by the infrastructure of the Medical Device (Cleanroom) Unit and the Testing and Analysis Unit. This enables the integration of biomaterials into medical device and prototype development workflows, while also allowing comprehensive physical, chemical, microscopic, biological, and rheological characterization studies. In addition, the biocompatibility assessments and related analytical services provided through the Industrial Services Testing and Analysis Unit contribute directly to both academic research and industrial collaboration and product development processes. In this way, the platform serves not only as an enabling environment for advanced research, but also as a key convergence point for translational research and commercialization activities across other platforms.
